With one of the most popular scores ever written for a stage musical, the film version of The Phantom of the Opera will introduce a new song written for the film by composer and producer Andrew Lloyd Webber and original The Phantom of the Opera lyricist Charles Hart, featured on the Sony Classical/Really Useful Records soundtrack recording. The Phantom of the Opera features a richly melodic score that includes such worldwide hits as 'Music of the Night', 'All I Ask of You', 'Think of Me, 'Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again' and 'The Phantom of the Opera'. Also working on the soundtrack recording are Andrew Lloyd Webber's long-time creative collaborators, co-producer Nigel Wright and conductor and supervisor Simon Lee. This highly talented team has brought together more than 100 hand-picked musicians from all over Europe for the recording sessions at London's famous Abbey Road Studios. The film version of The Phantom of the Opera is directed by Joel Schumacher (Veronica Guerin, A Time to Kill, Falling Down) and stars Scottish actor Gerard Butler (Lara Croft and the Cradle of Life: Tomb Raider II, Timeline, Reign of Fire) as the Phantom, 18-year-old Emmy Rossum (Mystic River, Day After Tomorrow) as Christine Daae and Patrick Wilson (The Alamo, Angels in America) as Raoul. The cast also includes Oscar nominees Minnie Driver, Miranda Richardson, Ciarán Hinds and Simon Callow. The film is scheduled to open as a Christmas 2004 release in the US and UK.
